ITAL 101 students acquire elementary communication skills through a systematic introduction to the basic grammatical patterns and vocabulary of the Italian language. A cultural component ties into the grammatical content. While reading and writing will be emphasized, tape recordings will also make it possible for the student to practice listening and speaking.

ITAL 203: Intermediate Italian
Self-paced Correspondence
ITAL 203 develops your skills in the four areas of grammar, reading, writing, and pronunciation. You will review some of the grammatical structures you learned in your second-semester Italian course and learn a few new ones. Readings include essays on many aspects of Italian culture, including food, holidays, music, information technology, American influence, and social problems. You will also read a collection of short stories by a famous Italian author. The readings will help you expand your vocabulary and increase your fluency.

ITAL 204 further develops your skills in the four areas of grammar, reading, writing, and pronunciation. Readings include essays on aspects of Italian culture such as fashion, film, games, lifestyles, and immigration. You will also read stories by two famous Italian authors.
