Saturday, Mar 15, 9 am–4 pm. Course #2431. Fee: $175.
In this participatory, practical, and fun workshop, teachers engage in a wide array of writing activities for students of all ages and skill levels. Activities are designed to accommodate all learning styles, and incorporate the arts through movement, music, and drawing as well as elements of Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences. In this supportive, nonthreatening course, even teachers who are unsure about their own writing ability will feel comfortable. Participants consider writing as a process of inquiry, problem-solving, and decision-making. They explore how to generate ideas and topics, develop them into sequenced narratives, and integrate details, description, and dialogue within the action of a story. Special emphasis is placed on revision techniques and teaching strategies that students can apply to any task. You will leave the workshop with specific writing activities you can immediately use in your classroom. CEUs will be awarded.
