What is Sakai?

Sakai is a learning management system, or a website where you will access content for UNC’s online and classroom-based courses. In other words, you’ll log into Sakai to access your course syllabus, lessons, and assignments, and if you’re taking a CCO course, it’s also where you’ll find your assignments, tests, and the discussion forum. In short, Sakai serves as a “virtual classroom.”

If you’ve never used a learning management system before, don’t worry. Sakai is intuitive to use once you get the hang of it.

Before continuing, it would be a good idea to visit Sakai and bookmark the page since you’ll be retuning to it frequently.

The rest of this orientation will introduce you to Sakai tools that you’re most likely to use while completing your online course. If you still need more information about Sakai after completing this orientation, you should check out these resource:

You can use the arrows at the top and bottom of each page to navigate through this orientation. Alternatively, if you are looking for a specific topic, choose it from the navigation bar to the left to jump to it.
