Tuition & Fees

Tuition and fees are paid in full at the time of enrollment. Tuition can be paid by check, money order, or credit card (MasterCard or Visa). Click the below tabs for tuition regarding distance courses. Interested in tuition regarding campus courses? Click here to learn more.

Already registered and need to make your payment?

Make checks and money orders payable to “The Friday Center.” A $25 fee is assessed on all returned checks.

Semester-based Courses
Self-paced Courses

Tuition and other charges are subject to change, based on legislative mandates. Please see the University Cashier’s website for current tuition costs and additional information.

New Students: If you have never attended UNC-Chapel Hill, you will need to pay the New Student Registration fee of $45 along with your enrollment.

After you have enrolled in a course through Carolina Courses Online, you’ll be notified by the Student Accounts office when your bill is ready. This notification is sent to your UNC-Chapel Hill email address and includes information on how to view your bill online and how to make a payment.

If you register after the billing period, you must pay estimated tuition and fees or give notice of anticipated aid to the University Cashier before you can be officially enrolled.

If you have questions about the Connect Carolina billing process, visit Student Billing. If you have questions about fees, fines, holds, or other aspects of your bill, visit Student Account Services.

Tuition does not include your textbooks or the cost of subscribing to an Internet service provider. Enrollment is limited, and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Proctored Exam Fee

If you take a course that requires a proctored exam, be aware that you may be charged a fee for proctoring your exam by the site where you arrange to take the exam. Proctored exams is one method UNC uses to verify that the students receiving credit for a course are the ones who actually took the course.

If you are not sure about your residence status, see Residency Requirements.

Due to factors beyond our control, tuition and other fees may change without notice. Students are responsible for tuition and fees that are in effect at the time a transaction occurs.
